My Liebster Award (it's not an award)

The Liebster Award is not an award but is a way of finding out about others. ‘Liebster’ is Germanic in origin and can mean sweet, kind, lovely, and other various affectionate adjectives.  So I guess it's a way of getting to know some things about each other.  Knowledge is power people, the more I know about, the better I understand.  That's why I blog about autism all the time. So it can be better understood and my family and others may be accepted and loved. Celebrating our differences is part of what I'm all about so I'm happy to share and learn.

I know a bit more now about Mouse, Moo and Me Too who nominated me for this - thank you! So without further delay here's how it works. General guidelines to follow:

1) Say hi to the person sweet enough to want to know more about you - and display your award with pride
2) Answer the eleven questions the gives you.
3) Give eleven random facts about yourself or if you are lazy like me you can say "See my answers below or check out my 'About' section"
4) Nominate some other people that you think are deserving of this award
5) Let them know you have nominated them
6) Give them eleven questions to answer

Here are the questions from Mouse, Moo and Me Too and my answers:

1) Best burger topping evs?
Big Mac sauce. It's a terrible admission.

2) What’s the last book you read, and was it any good?
Does 'Dinosaurumpus' count? Can't remember the last book I read for myself. I'm half way through one called The Wife Project about an Aspie looking for a partner. It's pretty funny.

3) What’s your one must have baby product?
Err, wipes. Almost a must have general product.

4) What’s your favourite season?
Difficult this one. Naturally I'd say summer but this time can actually be hugely stressful as the kids find the lack of routine difficult.  This is very common for kids with autism and ADHD.  But it's probably still my favourite season, playing in the garden and usually we get time as a family too.

5) You’ve got two unprecedented childless hours. What do you do?
Yesterday I used them to watch my Grey's Anatomy. Today it's filling out Section A of David's latest Education Health and Care Plan.  My life is really glamorous!

6) What’s your one desert island survival item?
A satellite phone?

7) Favourite Spice Girl?
Probably Ginger, because I'm a bit of a redhead.

8) What’s been your worst job?
That's hard. Each had their good and worse points. Possibly one I was made redundant from but only because I felt the 'restructuring' created a pretty horrible working environment where no one trusted anyone.

9) Does swearing denote a higher level of intelligence?
I wish? I try not to, feel that mostly it's my lack of vocabulary that leads to the odd profanity.

10) What’s more scary, spiders or clowns?
Clowns! Spiders do a fantastic job of keeping flies out of my life. Nothing scary about that.

11) You find £4 in change in the self-service checkout coin dispenser. Do you swipe it?
Obviously you look around to see whose it could be. Then hand it to the person who is swiping their code into my machine for nth time because I've done something weird with my bags/child has touched my bags/item has magically got wrong weight on it etc etc.

Ok. So now my questions for those I've nominated and anyone else who'd like to tell me - why not?

1. Where did you go on your first date?

2. Where did you go on your last date? (Pssst, can you remember your last date?)

3. Do you know any children with special educational needs?

(You may be surprised to know that around 15% of children need extra support in school and nearly 3% have an EHCP that gives them even extra help.  That means in a class of 30, four children will need more support and one may need a lot more.)

4. Have you ever met anyone with autism?

(In theory if you know 100 people then you may know at least one with autism, but it doesn't quite work that way.  Particularly the case if you work as only 32% of autistic adults are in any kind of paid work.)

5. Wine/beer/coke or water?

6. Starbucks or Costa?

7. Favourite toast toping?

8. Favourite chocolate bar?

9. Most disliked item of clothing?

10. Flats or heels?

11. Best place you've been with the kids (I'm fishing for ideas)?

This has also led me to new people, so along with some of my favourites so I'm delighted to tag:
